TEXAS GROUND. A PRACTICAL PLAN.SERVING TEXAS

Cost & scope / 4 minute read

Why two Texas clearing quotes can be miles apart.

Loose limestone and cut branches sit beside the cedar left standing.
Why two Texas clearing quotes can be miles apart.

Check the finish, material handling and mobilization before comparing the total.

Acres are the starting point

The acreage being treated matters, but so do the size of the trees, their density and the working room between them. A light understory on open ground is a different job from a rocky stand with wire hidden through it.

Compare the same finish

Mulching, cutting, grubbing and grading do not leave the same result. One quote may leave mulch and roots; another may include loading, trucking and disposal. Check what each contractor has actually included.

A day rate does not promise acreage

Machine days are a pricing unit, not a guarantee of a fixed number of acres. Ask what the day includes, how transport is handled and what happens if hidden debris or inaccessible ground changes the work.

What should be in writing

Identify work limits, retained trees, the treatment method, material destination, mobilization, exclusions, weather or access constraints and the handover condition. Company rates depend on the agreed work, access and finish.
